SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) TREE

project-002.0-solar-photovoltaic-pv-tree

System size: 7 KW DC (peak)
Number of solar photovoltaic panels: 20
CO2 yearly offset: 8 metric tons
Equivalent trees planted: 203 tree seedlings

Artistic structures retrofitted with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and placed in public places are ideal tools to raise public awareness on the functionality of such systems, as well as their appealing aesthetics. PV systems offer a splendid addition to any aerial view of structures or facilities to which they are integrated.

The Solar PV Tree shown in the picture is a huge structure, the lowest point of the installation bed being 3.5 meters above ground and its highest point at 5.6 meters. Public places visitors can make use of the many ancillary utilities that can added to it, such as charging outlets, shaded space, and nighttime lighting (battery-fitted systems). An interactive display can also be installed at the base of the structure to provide visitors with instantaneous power generation data and other useful educational info.

SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) CAR CANOPIES

PROJECT 001.0 - Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Canopies (AUB) (updated logo)

System size: 27 KW DC (peak) per array
Number of solar photovoltaic panels: 96 per array
CO2 yearly offset: 29 metric tons
Equivalent trees planted: 757 tree seedlings

Solar photovoltaic (PV) car canopies (or carparks) are one form of building-integrated PV (BIPV) systems. BIPV systems combine the effect of producing green power with useful system functionalities by merging a renewable power generation system with existing facilities and settings. In the case of solar PV car canopies, installers get the added benefit of providing shading to the parked cars.

PV car canopies can offer an excellent venue for E-Cars parked underneath it to directly recharge during daytime. The PV canopies can also be equipped with batteries in order to provide park lighting during nighttime, although battery-fitted carpark systems are rare and most installers prefer to connect their PV canopies system directly to the facility’s electricity grid.

System size: 15.68 KW DC (peak)
Number of solar photovoltaic panels: 56
CO2 yearly offset: 17 metric tons
Equivalent trees planted: 442 tree seedlings

Solar photovoltaic (PV) canopies are another form of building-integrated PV (BIPV) systems. BIPV systems combine the effect of producing green power with useful system functionalities by merging a renewable power generation system with existing facilities and settings, most prominent among which are shading for by-passers and park lighting during nighttime.
